Player Development Focus (by Age)

Ogden Soccer’s Player Development Focus (by Age) is based on the U.S. Soccer Player Development Initiatives. Use it as your “big picture” guide for what matters most at each format:

  • 4v4 (U6–U8) – Ball mastery, dribbling to goal, simple attacking/defending, lots of touches, and fun game experiences.
  • 7v7 (U9–U10) – Spreading out, providing passing options, learning to support the attack, basic team defending (pressure and cover), and transition.
  • 9v9 (U11–U12) – Adding width and depth, changing the point of attack, balance between lines, staying compact when defending, and playing as a team.
  • 11v11 (U13+) – Applying all previous stages, higher tactical understanding, more independence, and consistent good habits on and off the ball.
